Creston Valley - Kootenay Lake Economic Action Partnership

About EAP

Working Together for Shared Prosperity

Recognizing that our economies are linked in many ways, the local governments of  Creston Valley and Kootenay Lake communities (Yahk to Yaqan Nukiy to Riondel) decided to come together to look at shared opportunities and challenges for economic development, and areas where we can work together to make things better. In 2016, the Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake Economic Action Partnership (CV-KL EAP) project was created to drive this collaborative vision.

The project is a joint effort between the Town of Creston, Lower Kootenay Band, and Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) Electoral Areas A, B, and C. On behalf of these partners, Kootenay Employment Services is leading the project, with help from strategy consultants from EcoPlan International; an experienced Vancouver-based planning firm.

Our Mission: Establish an economic development team and develop an economic action strategy for the Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake area that will guide us to improve our regional economy in the next 5-10 years.

Project Duration:
Phase 1 – November 2016-October 2018
Phase 2 – Long term (+5 years)

Other Primary Goals:
– Join the Imagine Kootenay workforce, business and investment attraction program
– Creation of the Photo Bank Repository. Photographs created capture a regional “brand” and will be utilized for various regional marketing initiatives. (Currently in Phase 1)
– Provide in-kind support for other economic development and community initiatives whenever possible.
